Setting Your New Year Intentions

Set Your New Year Intentions with this High Vibrational Practice

Was this year of deep transformation and healing for you? If so, you’re not alone. The past several years have been a “purification” period. This supports you in shedding the energies that no longer serve you so you can elevate into the higher vibrational frequencies. The inner work you’ve been doing has prepared you for what you’ve asked for.

While the work will never be finished, this next year will be a very big year for you. It’s the year when your visions will manifest into your reality at a rapid rate. It’s important that for these next few weeks of the year and the early months of next year, you stay focused on your goals and continue to gain clarity on exactly what it is you want.

Over the next few days, before you set your intentions, I encourage you to reflect on these questions…

How do you want to feel?
Where do you want to focus your attention?
How do you want to look?
What kind of energy do you want to emanate?
How do you want to spend your time?

It’s always a good idea to take some time to reflect on the past year and set your intentions for the new year in a positive high vibrational environment. To support you with this, I’m sharing some of my favourite intention-setting practices.

My Top 5 New Year Intention-Setting Practices

I started doing this a few years ago, and it has been truly transformational.

Looking back on your intentions to see how much you’ve grown and how many goals became a reality is powerful. It’s easy to dismiss your manifestations as “luck” or “coincidences” as they happen. When you see them written down on paper, it can bring you back to the energy of desire you had when you created the intention. It can also encourage you to acknowledge and celebrate your growth.

Setting intentions for the new year can be a very personal and spiritual practice, so I encourage you to take some time with this. You can do it all at once or spread it out over a few days. Create a space of self-love for yourself; make a hot drink. Get a cozy blanket and a journal. Light a candle or use a diffuser, and grab some crystals if you have them.

Whenever you do mindful inner work and intention-setting practices, the higher the vibrational space you can create for yourself, the better!

Set your intentions alone or with someone you love. I like to do both. I usually do my own more personal practice individually, and then will create some shared goals with my husband after that.

Before you begin, take a few minutes to connect within. Say a prayer, ask for guidance, and focus on your breathing for a few deep breaths in and out. You do not have to be religious at all to pray. You can call on the Universe/Source Energy/Your Higher Self/Future Self, whatever feels most aligned to you.

1. Write a short script of where you are in a year from now.

It only needs to be a paragraph or so. I suggest visualizing first, then writing it down. If you like, you can even record yourself speaking what you see and feel into a voice note on your phone, then putting it into words. It might be helpful to use these guiding questions to help form a powerful and clear visualization.

Where are you?
What do you look like?
What do you feel like?
Who are you with?
What are you doing?
How are you feeling?

You can write your visualization with a pen in a journal or type it out in a document. I also suggest that when you’re finished, you copy it onto a note on your phone or desktop for easy access. Reflect on this script often and visualize it as true because it is, this is the future you! Each time you connect with the vision, you move closer to embodying this version of yourself.

2. Shine love, light and gratitude on this past year.

I know the past several years have been tough for many, so take your time with this one.

What were the highlights?
Where did you find strength through the lows?
How have you healed and evolved?
Where can you acknowledge and express gratitude for the growth you’ve had over the past year?

The practice of gratitude can be a time of reflection and prayer, or you can write it out if that feels aligned. Take some time to connect with your body and mind and honestly say “thank you” to your inner self and the Universe for providing you with everything you need to grow.

3. Honest Truths and Deep Reflection Journaling

How did fear hold you back from embodying your highest self this year?
Where might you still be in survival mode?
How can you shift those thoughts into the energy of thriving?
How will you shine a light and move into your fear to elevate into the next level version of yourself?

4. Breakdown Your Goals and Desires

It can be tricky to organize your dreams and desires into tangible goals you believe that you can achieve. To bring your manifestations into your physical reality, you have to be able to dream big, believe in your dreams, and take action. The first step is to write out all of the hopes that you have for yourself, big and small. Once you’ve created the list, break them down into these three categories.

1 Year Goals |5 Year Goals| 10 Year Goals

Ideally, you will organize your dreams in a way that the goals will build off of each other.

Manifesting isn’t about waiting around for something to happen; it’s about co-creation with the Universe and aligning your energy to create beautiful things together.

It is much more manageable to take action and believe in yourself and your dreams when you have a plan. I encourage you to go deep with this, including goals and action steps to get where you want to go.

5. Create a Vision Board

Using the information you’ve created from your intentions and reflections, create a vision board. Think of images and words that inspire you, and make you feel high vibe and alive.

Include what you wish to physically manifest, any experiences you desire, what you are already grateful for, and visuals that capture the feelings you want to feel.

I’ve done this on an actual board in my office, in a notebook, and on Pinterest. It’s super fun to do. The hopeful energy and excitement you will create during the process are the feelings you will want to continue to nourish throughout the year.

In summary, my top 5 new year intention-setting practices are:

1. Write a short script of where you are a year from now.

2. Shine love, light and gratitude on this past year.

3. Get honest and reflect on how fear might have held you back.

4. Break down your dreams into 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year goals.

5. Create a vision board that reflects what inspires and excites you.

Sending you so much loving energy and positive intentions as we move into this next year!

Love,
Megan xo
